Introducing our latest high-performance basketball shoe EQLZ247, a fusion of nature-inspired design and innovation by prominent American designer Aaron Cooper. We asked ourselves: how has modern basketball been evolving; just as positions blur, is the shift from game to life also becoming seamless; what if we create a basketball shoe that truly becomes an extension of the human foot?
SHARKSKIN-INSPIRED DYNAMIC GRIP
The Computational Design for EQLZ247 by David Burpee takes inspiration from three natural systems - the scales of a shark, the laminar flow of water, and a pressure map of the human foot.The outsole pattern utilizes macro and micro scale tuning. Each of the 220 individual scales are unique in their geometry and respond to pressure map data not only in size, but with variable section profiles as well as optimized orientation along a gait or flow line. Each scale is flared to extend .5mm proud of the surrounding outsole surface and stands individually on a thin web, providing a balance of performance, flexibility, and on-court feel.
